About the Shichida At Home Program

How does Shichida at Home work?

Shichida at Home is a progressive early education program designed to grow with your child. It is a monthly subscription service that includes one months access to 4 age-specific videos and, depending on the subscription package parents select, may also include corresponding activities in a monthly workbook and/or physical toys and learning materials that are shipped to your home each month.

I am currently attending Shichida classes. How is Shichida At Home program different?

Shichida at Home is designed to complement Shichida classes. It provides monthly access to four 15-20 minute weekly videos each month. The intention of the Shichida at Home program is to provide guidance, content, materials and support for parents to be engaged with their child’s learning at home during the week.

Shichida at Home extends the child’s Shichida learning experience into their home environment. Unlike traditional classes, Shichida at Home allows for multiple viewings throughout each month and can be streamed on any device at any location.

Can Shichida at Home replace a Shichida class?

Shichida at Home is not intended to replace a Shichida class, but rather, it is an extension of the traditional classroom program. Parents consistently ask us what they can do at home to further nurture the love of learning in their child. After years of planning, we have created a learning system that will make you a successful at-home mentor for your child.

Similar to regular Shichida classes, both parent and child are encouraged to work alongside each other and enjoy learning new skills together. While our traditional classroom lessons are 50 minutes, we have found that the Shichida at Home program works best in 15-20 minute sessions. Each session is filled with fun and engaging content that can be streamed online.

Shichida at Home is a subscription based program that has different packages depending on the level of engagement you would like to have with your child. Depending on the package you chose it may include monthly workbooks and unique Shichida toys, songs and learning materials curated for each episode of Shichida at Home that parents can use at home to facilitate their child’s learning and create fun, interactive teaching moments together.

What is the cost?

The cost of the Shichida at Home program is USD$99.95 per month plus GST & shipping. Shipping will vary based on your location. Each monthly subscription gives you access to 4x weekly videos, a workbook (30 pages) and relevant teaching materials for you to work on with your child at home.

If I am an existing Shichida parent, do I get a discount?

Please contact your local Shichida centre for more information.

When can I start?

You can start anytime. Once you have signed up, you will have immediate access to the videos. The first pack of products (i.e. workbook and teaching materials) will arrive within 15 days. To ensure you experience the full complementing benefits of the videos with their corresponding products, we give you a total of 6 weeks of access in your initial month.

When will I see the benefits of the program?

Every child is born with their own innate potential and may develop different skills and strengths at different rates.

The Shichida program works so well to draw out each child’s innate potential because it does not place children under any stress or pressure to learn and retain information. In a loving and pressure-free environment that focuses on the child’s connection to their parent and their enjoyment of lessons together, children will grow and improve easily and rapidly in their own time.

If your child is under the age of 3, this stage is all about exposure to stimulation, love and new experiences. Therefore, any output that they give at this stage is a bonus! Keep an eye out for improvements in concentration, enthusiasm during certain activities and an increase in curiosity.

Is this enough stimulation for my child? Should I also attend Shichida classes?

Yes, if you have access to a Shichida centre, that will always be the most ideal form of experiencing the Shichida program.

Classes at the centres complemented with Shichida at Home will be the most comprehensive way of experiencing the program to its fullest benefit.

As a parent, what is expected of me in terms of participation?

Shichida Method of Education strongly believes in the engagement of parents in their child’s learning and development.

Research suggests that it is the connection and ongoing parental engagement in a child’s environment that is crucial to a child’s development and achievements. We work alongside you, whether at a Shichida centre or at home with the Shichida at Home Program.

The Shichida Method of Education is a hands-on parent-child learning system designed to develop your child holistically. Shichida at Home provide the content and support that parents need to have successful learning experiences with their child at home. Watch the videos with your child and work on the workbook together with your child.  The workbook will also give you the necessary guidance to complete the activities.  The content of the workbook corresponds to the weekly program.

For my child, what is expected of them in terms of participation?

Children would benefit from regular weekly participation in the Shichida at Home program. The program is designed to be engaging, interactive and self-explanatory. Each video uses colourful imageries, fun tunes and simple instructions with demonstrations to allow you and your child to follow easily. So just sit back, relax and follow the lead of presenters.  Most importantly, just have fun!

Do I have to watch the video together with my child or can they watch by streaming the Shichida At Home video themselves just like other videos?

Shichida Method of Education believes that parental involvement is crucial to learning. The underlying philosophy of the Shichida Method is to engage the hearts of the children so we can engage their minds.  Hence, parents play an important role. We strongly encourage that you watch the videos together with your child. This allows you to engage and interact with your child regularly while enjoying the age-specific content of the program. Furthermore, it can build and promote parent-child bonding.

How often should we watch the Shichida At Home video and do the activities?

We always encourage children to watch the video and do the activities with the parents each week. This can occur any number of times, as frequently as you would like. It is important to take note of what was presented and how it was presented, and subsequently work at it with your child – customising it to your child’s interest and abilities. Remember, quality is more important than quantity.

Lastly, your child’s attention span is typically [THEIR AGE] + 1 MINUTE. For example, a 2 year old will have an attention span of 3 minutes. It is important to keep that in mind for our workbook activities as well.

Will your program show me how to do the activities with my child and what if I have a question about an activity?

All the activities come with explicit instructions that will show you how to work on each task with your child.  Additionally, there are parental guidance videos and webinars for you to attend. What age range is this program for?

Shichida at Home caters for children between the age of 18 months to 4 years of age. Shichida at Home has 5 series; Momo, Kuri, Mika, Pepe and Tilly series. Each series lasts for 6 months.

Is my child too young?

No, they are never too young. Shichida Method believes that 6 months to 3 years old is a crucial period for learning, as that is when their brains are rapidly growing and absorbing new information. During this vital period, children are learning like sponges. Shichida Method of Education aims to provide a learning-rich environment where the program focuses on exposing children to different and new information. We have found that this key component of the method helps maximise the innate potential of every child. The earlier that you commence with any Shichida Program, the greater the benefits. The Shichida at Home program has been developed for children aged 18 months to 4 and a half years old.

Your program is a little too advanced for my child. What can I do?

The program is designed age appropriately but if you find the program too advanced, it is perfectly fine to start 6-9 months below your child’s chronological age.

Your program is too easy for my child. What can I do?

Shichida at Home is progressive in its design, with each month’s content building on the previous month’s. Each month, children move forwards in small steps. Every step is important to building a strong foundation. We strongly recommend you follow the program’s recommended age.

As our program covers multiple areas, your child might excel in one area, they might need support in other areas. For areas that children are good at, they will benefit from revision; and children enjoy doing activities that they are good at. Remember mastery involves doing something more than once.

Materials

What products/teaching materials do I get with the Shichida At Home program?

These will vary from month to month in alignment with the curriculum.

Are the monthly products safe for children?

The Shichida program is age-appropriate in its curriculum and provided materials. This means that we have taken into consideration the age of children when sourcing materials and ensure that they are safe and age-appropriate. However, some teaching materials may be smaller in size. These materials are accompanied with a warning message. Please note that all the materials and activities are intended to be used with parental guidance.

Are there instructions on how to use the monthly product/teaching materials?

All components (i.e. video, workbook and online access) of the Shichida at Home program are accompanied with instructions.

Is there a monthly test to assess how well my child is doing?

There will not be any formal assessments. However, you can compare your child’s development to the developmental milestones found in your country’s education department.

Can I purchase another set of the monthly product and workbook?

The products and workbook come bundled with the Shichida At Home subscription. There is no option to purchase the product and workbook set separately. However, if you sign up for multiple memberships, you will receive multiple sets of the monthly product and workbook.

Can I share this with a friend?

Each subscription is for single user on one device at a time. Content of the Shichida at Home program is copyrighted and cannot be shared with another user without the permission and authorisation from Shichida. Detailed terms and conditions of use are available upon sign up.

Where can I go if I would like to attend a class in person?

Shichida classroom program is currently only available in the following countries:

I would like to suspend the membership and continue later. How can I do this?

Shichida at Home offers a “suspend” option. This means that your membership can be put on pause and your payment will be suspended. You can apply for a “suspension” on your membership for 30 days by completing the form here https://shichidaathome.wpengine.com/suspension-form/. Please note we need 48 hours notice to activate suspension before the monthly debit date.

My credit card has been debited incorrectly, is there an online chat or email support I can write to if I have issues regarding billing issues?

You can write to us at [email protected] for all billing issues. Please allow us 48 hours to respond to you.

What is the cancellation process?

We are sad to see you go, but if you need to cancel your membership, simply complete the cancellation request form here https://shichidaathome.securechkout.com/cancel-membership. You can cancel any time you desire. You will be able to continue to access the online content until the end of the current billing period. To avoid any charges for the new month, please note we need 48 hours notice before the monthly debits.

When will I be billed each month?

Your first payment will be processed when you sign up.  All future debit will occur subsequently on the same day of every month following.

Technical Support

How fast does my internet need to be?

The minimum required connection speed is 0.5 megabits per second, but you may want a faster connection for improved video.

Below are the Internet download speed recommendations per stream.

0.5 Megabits per second – Required broadband connection speed

1.5 Megabits per second – Recommended broadband connection speed

3.0 Megabits per second – Recommended for SD quality

5.0 Megabits per second – Recommended for HD quality

25 Megabits per second – Recommended for Ultra HD quality

Our videos are encoded in HD quality and hence to view our video in HD quality, we recommend 5.0 Megabits per second.

Where is Shichida At Home available?

Shichida At Home is currently only available to:

How do I watch the videos?

You can use either your computer, tablet or smartphone to watch the videos on any browser:

Can I stream the video in High Definition?

Our videos are encoded in HD quality and hence we recommend streaming in HD quality.

I can't access the streaming video due to network issues in my country. Can you provide me a downloaded version of the video monthly?

Due to Intellectual Property and Piracy issues, we do not allow downloading of the video.

Is there a limit to the number of times I can watch the streaming videos?

There is no limit within the allotted time period of the subscription.

When will I receive my monthly product and workbook?

We will ship out the fun pack the next working day. You can expect to receive your fun pack within 15 days of purchase and subsequently, monthly.   You can track the shipment via a tracking code which will be sent once the product has been shipped out.

We have lost our monthly product set, can we order a replacement set?

We will allow each member to purchase a replacement set at $60 plus shipping but you can only do this once every six months.

We have not received our monthly product set, can you send me another set of monthly product?

Please allow 15 days for shipment. In the event the shipment does not arrive in 30 days or the shipment has gone missing in transit please inform us via email at [email protected], and we will ship you another set.

Is there online chat or email support I can write to if I have any issues regarding delivery of the monthly product or streaming video or its content?

We currently do not support online chat but we provide email support and will endeavour to respond within 24 hours after we have received your email. Also be aware that we have a Facebook Page where we receive messages if you have any urgent questions as well.

How long will it be before I receive the product?

Within 15 days of purchase.  (Please note that you will have immediate access to the videos upon payment.)

Can I have access to the past videos so that my child can want watch them in the future?

You will have access to the monthly videos for 4 weeks.  Unfortunately, currently we are not able to provide access to past videos.

We are going to be on holidays(outside my country), can I stream the videos while on holidays?

As long as you have access to the internet, you can stream the videos anywhere except where internet access may be restricted or in countries where Shichida at Home is not currently provided.  Please kindly note that data charges may be imposed by your service provider.
